It was a creative joy working with Neera. Neera is what I like to call an "actor's director." While steering us along with her vision, she welcomed our input/thoughts on the characters and made sure we felt comfortable exploring the depths of the roles, both in rehearsals and on set. She's a visionary professional, who lead the team with ease and made set feel like a collaboration.
Omg Neera! indefatigable, brilliant, delightful Neera. Our art director neera made every single scene so much more than it would have been with her flair and attention to detail. She worked tirelessly to make sure every single shot felt real, lived in and alive.And she is god damn joy to be around hire her and you will be the better for it.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Neera on a short student film that I wrote and directed. She was not only extremely professional to work with, but she was also kind and supportive. She can make the best out of a small budget —something I personally witnessed on my film. She fell in quickly with the rest of the crew and was most proactive on set. Her creative prowess and understanding of the relationship between production design and character are outstanding. She knows story, she knows cinema and she thinks production design. In conclusion, Neera is a hard worker; she puts her heart into every endeavor she takes on.
I had the pleasure of playing the role of Abby in Neera's film 'Abby's Way'. Neera is easily the most detail oriented, driven, passionate, and inventive director I've worked with since moving to New York. While the shoot was only 4 days, we worked together one on one in rehearsals for a week before, outlining subtext, context, and character motivation. As an actor with a theatre background I find that film projects frequently lack the intimacy and bond that a rehearsal process creates between the artists involved. Neera evoked this same intimacy on set, making me feel not only safe and capable as a person but prepared and confident as a performer. She was open to the perspectives of the cast and crew while never compromising her very clear vision for the sake of ease or time. Neera provided a very special onset experience that left me feeling nurtured, motivated, and inspired. She is the real deal, if you have an opportunity to work with her— take it.
I've been working with Neera in several projects. She was doing production design and costume design in my films. She was a super professional person, giving interesting ideas, helpful on set and creative with characters details when she was making outfit for them.
